EFF is opposing the CHATBOT Act, a bill that advanced out of the Senate Commerce Committee and would require AI chatbot providers to build standardized "family account" systems for teen users. Under the proposal, parents would get access to complete logs of a teenager's chatbot conversations, tools to analyze that activity at scale, and alerts when controls are circumvented. EFF argues the mandate imposes a single invasive supervision model on all families and moves toward age-gating online services.
