California's governor approved a set of 12 measures framed as child online protection, including AB 1709, which effectively bars under-16s from social media and which EFF fought against. EFF backed two others, AB 2071 and AB 2298, which add digital wellness and cybersecurity instruction to school curricula, including lessons on keeping personal information secure and assessing AI-generated content.
