Google says Gmail security is “strong and effective” as it denies major breach

Google has pushed back on widely circulated reports suggesting that the account data of its entire Gmail user base of roughly 2.5 billion people had been compromised. The company maintains that its email protections remain robust and says no such large-scale incident occurred.
